Dedham TV Summer Camp

The Dedham TV Summer Camp program is structured to teach both theory and practical methods on how a television program is set up, recorded, edited and broadcasted. This 1 week (15 hour) course runs from Monday to Friday, 9 am up to noon each day and will result in a real world television program being created.

Requirements

Course is free to Dedham middle or high school students and is also free to Dedham TV members ($25 membership fee) Non members course fee is $50.

Course Dates

2014: July 14 to 19, July 28 to Aug 2, August 11 to 15 & August 25 to 29

Class size will range from 5 to 10 students. Classes occur in the AM hours. Spaces are assigned on a first come first placed basis and all enquiries should be directed to DHallissey@Dedham.k12.ma.us.

 


Course Breakdown

Monday

09:00 — Studio tour and overview
10:00 — TV basics, video & audio formats
11:00 — Lighting basics

Tuesday

09:00 — Camera basics and footage importing
10:00 — Introduction to Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Plural Eyes & Photoshop
11:00 — Software integration workflow

Wednesday

09:00 — Editing techniques and terminology.
10:00 — Adding animations and transitions.
11:00 — Importing, syncing and exporting footage

Thursday

09:00 — Cameras, microphones and lighting layout check
09:30 — Recording of TV program
10:30 — Importing and syncing of the recorded footage
11:30 — Preparing the footage for editing

Friday

09:00 — Editing of TV program
10:30 — Exporting of TV program to DVD and place online
11:30 — Course review and certificate student award ceremony
